Pre-Orientation Checklist

Checklist Items

After being admitted, all new students complete the following items:

  1. Confirm: Accept your decision to attend UVA Wise in your Applicant Portal.

  2. Verification: If you are a Virginia resident or ARC-eligible student, return the tuition form specific to your state to the Admissions Office to verify your residency. The appropriate is also emailed to applicable students after they are admitted. (Virginia residents, be sure that you have returned the Application for In-State Tuition form; ARC-eligible students need to return the ARC form.)

  3. Account Activation: Activate your UVA Wise account which gives you access to your UVA Wise email and systems. After you are admitted and in the coming weeks, directions from identity@virginia.edu are sent to your personal email (check your spam/junk/promotions folders). NOTE: This email contains your computing ID (username) and activation code (Jenzabar ID#). Be sure to keep a record of them for future use.

Be sure to check & use your UVA Wise email often & regularly for all college communications & business -- it is now your official college email account. After completing your Cav Module and from this point forward, your UVA Wise email and user ID will now be used for all UVA Wise systems, processes and communications, including signing up for Orientation, accessing Financial Aid, viewing your class schedule, semester-start reminders, etc.

  4. Cav Module: Beginning in March (for fall start)/November (for spring start), students who have confirmed their enrollment in the Admissions Portal will receive the Becoming a Cav online module in their personal email. The Cav Module must be completed prior to signing up for a required Orientation session. Students will use their UVA Wise username & password (same as your UVA Wise email, but without the “@uvawise.edu” part).

  5. Orientation Signup: Beginning in April (for fall start)/November (for spring start), confirmed students who have completed their online Cav module (see pre-orientation above) will receive Orientation invitations in their Wise email. Students will use their UVA Wise username & password (same as your UVA Wise email, but without the “@uvawise.edu” part) for access to the form in the my.uvawise.edu Portal (you DO have access, just login). Up to two (2) family/guests may be included in the signup form. Students will be notified to their UVA Wise email that the signup submission has been received.

Additional Items

After completing the checklist items above, new students should also consider/complete these items BEFORE Orientation:
