Arts Living Learning Community
The UVA Wise Arts Living Learning Community was founded in the fall of 2023 to bring together students who have a passion for all forms of the arts, including music, theater, and visual art. These students are given the opportunity to live together to further their artistic interests in a close-knit community, and also to participate in multiple arts-oriented activities through the semester. Arts LLC members do not need to major in an arts field to participate!
Arts Events
Open Mic Night: Arts LLC members join together with other UVA Wise students and community participants to put on an all-arts open mic night, where music performances, theatrical performances, and visual art displays are all welcome.
Art Events Ushering: With such a wide variety of artistic events occurring on UVA Wise’s campus every semester, Arts LLC members are given to opportunity to help foster a welcoming environment at such events by serving as ushers.
Barter Theater: Once a year, Arts LLC students travel down to the world renowned Barter Theater to watch a production.
Heritage Hall Valentine’s Day Card Drive: Arts LLC members organize a create-a-card event for students around the campus to write a card for senior citizens living in Heritage Hall.
The Arts LLC Community
The Arts LLC is comprised of 15 students and a community assistant. Associate Professor of Music Hannah Ryan, DMA and Associate Professor of Music Peter Ryan, DMA assist with developing opportunities and programming for the community and are available to guide students in additional individual development.
