This past spring, UVA Wise students studied abroad in Ireland and Nepal and this summer in Croatia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Earlier this year, Josephine Rodriguez began her work at the U. S. National Science Foundation as a Program Director in the Division of Undergraduate Education. It’s a rotating position through the Intergovernmental Personnel Act for two years.

Last Saturday, 14 students made history as they walked across the stage at David J. Prior Convocation Center to become the first graduates of UVA Wise’s Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program.

This January, the England Foundation added four more bicentennial funds bringing the total number of scholarship funds to 10. Seven are already completely funded.

Mike Quillen made a $1 million investment to benefit UVA Wise students and the regional community in honor of his former colleagues. In recognition of his philanthropy, UVA Wise will name the Prior Center court the Quillen Court.

The University of Virginia College at Wise announced this week that an endowed scholarship has been established in honor of Gage Clark, a UVA Wise student who passed away unexpectedly on March 23, 2023.
