Candice Stadler joined the team at the University of Virginia’s College at Wise in July 2022 and assumed her role as Director of International Programs and Services in June 2024. As Director of International Programs and Services, Stadler oversees study abroad, services for international and exchange students, and assists faculty with short-term international travel experiences for students. She also works extensively across campus with faculty, staff, and students to foster care and belonging for UVA Wise international students.
As a first-generation college graduate and native of Appalachia, Candice participated in study abroad programs during her undergraduate experience where she traveling to northern France to study the D-Day Beaches and invasion of France by Allied Forces during World War II. Additionally, she traveled with faculty as an undergraduate on a short-term trip abroad. She’s spent time in the United Kingdom, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Germany.
Stadler’s career in student affairs spans over 20 years across several college campuses in West Virginia, Colorado, and Kentucky. Prior to her current role, she held several senior student affairs leadership roles and has an extensive history of supporting students from the entry of college through graduation. She has presented at state and national conferences on a variety of student affairs topics including career development and experiential learning, academic advising, student engagement, and student affairs assessment. Candice is a past president of the West Virginia Association of Student Personnel Administrators (WVASPA) and recipient of the WVASPA Stella Cooksey Distinguished Service Award which recognizes outstanding achievement over an extended period of time in the student affairs profession.
She earned a B.A. in history and M.S. in human resource management from the University of Charleston and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from Marshall University. Candice completed Leadership WV in 2013, the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators Region II Mid-Managers Institute in 2015, and the American Education Council’s Virginia Network Senior Leadership Seminar Series in 2024.
