Dr. Cecilia Sakong is a pianist, educator, and collaborative artist. She holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the Pennsylvania State University, where she studied under Dr. Christopher Guzman on a full scholarship. She also earned a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from Seoul National University, with minors in Business, Harpsichord, and Voice.
Cecilia serves as an adjunct instructor and accompanist at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise, teaching applied piano, group piano classes, theory, and aural skills while accompanying instrumental and vocal performers. She previously held teaching and collaborative pianist positions at Penn State University, Pennsylvania Western University, and Music Institute at the University of Akron.
As an active performer, she has given solo recitals, chamber performances, and concerto appearances at major venues, including the Kennedy Center, Kimmel Center, and Eisenhower Hall. She has also collaborated with various choirs, orchestras, and chamber ensembles.
