Appalachian Fellows Program
We want you to have a deep and immersive experience in Appalachia and we’re going to give you plenty of opportunities to get out into the community, learn what the people and the region are all about, and broaden your understanding through your classroom experience.
In order to become an Appalachian Fellow, you must:
- Declare your intention to Professor McKnight.
- Remain in good standing as a student at UVA Wise.
- Successful completion of HUM 1850-Introduction to Appalachian Studies.
- Participate in 4 sanctioned Appalachian Fellows events each semester.*
*Exempt for the semester if taking an approved experiential learning course
