The University of Virginia’s College at Wise Theater Division stages a hilarious story of friendship and revenge during the Rolodex era in their production of Dolly Parton’s “9 to 5 The Musical,” set to open Thursday, November 21st.

The UVA Wise Theater Division presents “9 to 5 The Musical” November 21st-23rd at 7 p.m. and November 24th at 2 p.m. on campus in the Gilliam Center for the Arts Black Box Theater. Tickets are $10 for the public, or free with presentation of UVA Wise ID. Through partnership with the Pro-Art Association, Pro-Art season ticket holders are also free to attend. The Box Office opens one hour prior to the start of each performance.

“9 to 5 The Musical,” with music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick, is based on the seminal 1980 hit movie. Pushed to the boiling point, three female coworkers concoct a plan to get even with the sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot they call their boss. In a hilarious turn of events, Violet, Judy and Doralee live out their wildest fantasy—giving their boss the boot! While Hart remains "otherwise engaged," the women give their workplace a dream makeover, taking control of the company that had always kept them down.

The UVA Wise Theater Department is devoted to theater as a unified art form that blurs the lines between visual-art, story and music by fusing performance, design, and engineering in a single, meaningful experience. Find more information about the program at uvawise.edu.
