UVA Wise Hospitality and Tourism Students Immerse in Luxury and Learning at Nicewonder Farms
UVA Wise hospitality and tourism students experienced an unforgettable day of luxury and education during their visit to Nicewonder Farms recently. The group arrived early morning and quickly dove into the world of high-end hospitality and event management.
Students were welcomed by Nicewonder Farms' General Manager, Mara Bouvier, providing them with an extensive tour of the hotel's opulent accommodations, which range from $500 to $1,500 per night. The students explored the elegantly designed guest rooms, each offering a unique blend of comfort and sophistication.
The tour continued with visits to the property's premium amenities, including a state-of-the-art swimming pool area, a tranquil spa and fully equipped gym. The group also had the opportunity to explore Viceroy, the farm's fine dining restaurant known for its exquisite cuisine and impeccable service.
A highlight of the visit was the brunch at Viceroy, where students indulged in a variety of gourmet dishes. The culinary experience showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality and innovation, leaving a lasting impression on the future hospitality professionals.
The group also toured the winery, gaining insight on the process of wine production and the interactive experience of wine tastings. Discussions about hotel and restaurant management, destination marketing and wedding planning were also held, giving students a well-rounded experience.
"We are thrilled to offer our students this invaluable opportunity to witness firsthand the operations of a luxury hospitality establishment. This experience not only enriches their academic knowledge but also prepares them for successful careers in the industry,” says Cherry Brewer, assistant professor of hospitality management at UVA Wise.
The visit to Nicewonder Farms provided UVA Wise students with a comprehensive understanding of luxury hospitality operations, emphasizing the importance of exceptional service, attention to detail and innovative marketing strategies in the industry.
The new Hospitality and Tourism Management major debuted in May of this year, giving students the opportunity to get hands on experience in the industry.
