Is there a fee?
There is no fee for Orientation.
How long is Orientation?
Here is a draft schedule that provides an overview of the half-day event and other optional opportunities. A final schedule is sent to students and registered guests a few days before their in-person Orientation date with additional event details, including parking.
Can I bring guests?
Students may register up to two guests to accompany them at their in-person Orientation session. If you need to add or update guest information after signing up for Orientation, please email orientation@uvawise.edu.
How do I get started with the Orientation process?
Complete the Pre-Orientation To-Do List that is available in the menu link.
When do I sign up for Orientation?
After students complete the Pre-Orientation Checklist, they will receive an invitation to their UVA Wise email to sign up for their preferred Orientation session. Students, ensure your availability for start-of week zoom advising AND the in-person Friday Orientation date when selecting an Orientation session. View specific dates & details. NOTE: Orientation Signups close on the Wednesday of the week before each session date to allow for advising preparation, transcript evaluation, etc.
Why did I receive an error message when trying to sign up for Orientation?
The invitation link directs students to the my.uvawise.edu portal which gives a warning notification (it’s not actually an error message). Sign-in with your UVA Wise account username and password is REQUIRED to access the form, so login and you’ll see the form.
How do I sign up for my advising appointment?
Students receive an email the week prior to their selected Orientation session with details to access to their WOW (Wise Orientation Welcome) advising course in Canvas, including selection of an available advising appointment with their faculty advisor at the start of the Orientation week. Students, be sure that you select an appointment when you can be engaged & have no distractions. View specific dates & details.
