Pre-Orientation Checklist

Checklist Items

After being admitted, all new students complete the following items:

  1. Confirm: Accept your offer of admission in your applicant portal.

  2. Verification: If you are a Virginia resident or ARC-eligible student, the required form is linked in your applicant portal. Please complete and return any supporting documents prior to your Orientation session.

  3. Account Activation: Activate your UVA Wise account which gives you access to your UVA Wise email and systems. After you are admitted, directions from identity@virginia.edu are sent to your personal email (check your spam/junk/promotions folders). NOTE: This email contains your computing ID (username) and activation code (Jenzabar ID#). Be sure to keep a record of them for future use.

Be sure to check & use your UVA Wise email often & regularly for all college communications & business – it is now your official college email account (visit help.uvawise.edu for account tips & FAQs). After completing your Cav Module and from this point forward, your UVA Wise email and user ID will now be used for all UVA Wise systems, processes and communications, including signing up for Orientation, accessing Financial Aid, viewing your class schedule, semester-start reminders, etc.

  4. Cav Module: Beginning in March (for fall start)/November (for spring start), students who have accepted their offer of admission will access the online Becoming a Cav Module in their applicant portal. The Cav Module must be completed prior to signing up for a required Orientation session. Students will use their UVA Wise username & password to log into the module.

  5. Orientation Signup: Upon completion of the Cav Module, students will receive access to sign up for a summer Orientation session in their applicant portal.

Additional Items

After completing the checklist items above, new students should also consider/complete these items BEFORE Orientation:

Complete the online Application for Campus Housing if you plan to reside on campus. The Housing Portal opens to new summer/fall students in April. Note that UVA Wise has a first-year residency requirement; learn more online. Students will use their UVA Wise username & password to log in.

Course credit cannot be added to your academic record until official transcripts and scores have been received and evaluated.
