Spring 2025

Sunday, January 12, 2025
Residence Halls re-open for the Spring 2025 semester at 9 a.m. for returning students who lived on campus for the Fall 2024 semester. Asbury and Thompson residents will need to check back in to their apartments must visit Henson Hall to obtain their keys. All other building occupants can access the building with their CAVS CARD.

Move In for New Spring 2025 students will be from 9am-3pm.
Students living in Culbertson, McCraray or Still Halls will check in at the lobby of Culbertson Hall. Students living in Asbury, Henson, Martha Randolph, and Thompson Halls will check in at the lobby of Henson Hall.

Requests to stay over Spring Break must be completed and submitted by 5 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2025.
*There is a $25.00 fee per night-for approved students, to stay over Spring Break, charges will be applied to the student account in the Cashier’s Office. Official College breaks where Residence Halls close are not included in Spring 2025 Housing fees.

Notification to residents who submitted a request to stay over Spring Break will be notified. If approved for stay, the $25.00 per night fee will be placed on the student’s account at this time.

All residents are required to vacate their housing assignment. Building access is turned off at this time. Only those who are approved to stay on campus are allowed in Residence Halls.

Housing Application opens for current/returning UVA Wise Students

• There is no fee to apply for housing.
• Housing assignments are made on the order of housing application date/time. The earlier students register, the better room selection they will have.
• Returning students can select housing in Asbury, Culbertson, Henson, Martha Randolph & Thompson Halls. Any rooms not claimed by Monday, March 31, 2025, will be turned over to New and Transfer students for Fall 2025/Spring 2026 housing.
• A $100.00 cancellation fee will be charged anytime housing is canceled prior to move-in day for the Fall semester, returning student move-in is Sunday, August 18, 2025.

Housing Application opens for new UVA Wise Students

There is no fee to apply for Housing.
Housing assignments are made on the order of housing application date/time. The earlier students register, the better room selection they will have.
New students can select housing for McCraray & Still Halls, and any other available rooms not claimed by upperclassmen at this time.
-A $100.00 cancellation fee will be charged anytime housing is canceled prior to move-in day for the Fall semester, new student move in day is Friday, August 16, 2025. See the freshman residency requirement for all new students.

Due to construction/building upgrades Summer Housing in Asbury/Thompson will not be available.
Summer Housing will be in Culbertson Hall during Summer 2025.

Summer I move-in from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Monday, May 26, check out on Saturday, Jun 28, 2025 (if not staying for Summer II or not paying for Interim Summer II housing).

*Interim Summer Housing is not included in Summer I or Summer II housing costs and is offered at $25.00 per

Summer II move-in from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. on Sunday, July 6, check out on Saturday, August 9 by noon (if not staying for the Fall 2025 semester or not paying for Interim Summer II housing).

Interim Summer II to Fall Housing
Interim Summer to Fall Housing is not included in Summer or Fall housing costs and is offered at $25.00 per night. Only students with a housing assignment for the fall 2025 semester and in good standing with the College may be permitted for extended stay.

End of Semester Closing

Students must check out of their dorm 24 hours after their last exam. If a student’s last exam is on Friday, May 9th, you must be moved out of your dorm by 9 AM on Saturday, May 10th.

Due to graduation on May 10th, Spring 2025 Graduates will have until 5 PM to check out of their dorm.

All housing/residential facilities will be completely closed from Saturday, May 10, 2025, to Sunday, May 25, 2025, due to various construction projects, building upgrades, room inventories, and other necessities. Due to this, no extended stay requests will be accepted. 

How to Check Out

Residence Life Staff will be present in the lobby of the following buildings to check students out: Culbertson, Henson, McCraray, and Still. You must visit a check out table during the scheduled times:

Tuesday, May 6, 2025: 9 AM - 8 PM

Wednesday, May 7, 2025: 9 AM - 8 PM

Thursday, May 8, 2025: 9 AM - 8 PM

Friday, May 9, 2025: 9 AM - 5 PM

Saturday, May 10, 2025: 

• Students with a final on Friday must visit a check out table by 9 AM
• Spring 2025 Graduates ONLY must visit a check out table by 5 PM. 

Once at the check out table, you will present your key to the Residence Life staff member. A Residence Life staff member will then follow you back to your 24/25 housing assignment to make sure the following check out procedure has been completed:

• The room is clean
• All trash is taken to an outside dumpster
• The blinds are closed
• All belongings are removed and the room has returned to its original state
• Doors are locked and closed

If the procedure has been followed, the Residence Life staff member will check you out. If any trash or belongings were left behind, you will be instructed to take care of it before you are officially checked out. 

Check out times are only available at the times posted. You must plan accordingly. If you do not check out with a Residence Life staff member, you will face improper check out fees, rekey charges, and any additional maintenance/housekeeping fees deemed necessary. 

Residence Life understands this is a new process compared to how it was completed in the past. However, you must follow this procedure for check out. Key drop-off boxes will not be utilized. If you have any questions, please email wisehousing@uvawise.edu.

Winter Break
Residence Halls Closed

• Students returning for Spring 2025 housing must check out 24 hours after their last exam. Students living in Asbury and Thompson Halls must check out in the Henson Hall office upon departure and return their keys. Keys may be returned to the Henson Hall office Monday, December 9, 2024 through Friday, December 13, 2024, between the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm. 
  Access to all other Residence Halls are electronically turned off during Winter Break.
   
• Students not returning for Spring 2025 Housing must check out by 5pm on Friday, December 13, 2024.

  Smith Dining Commons and all retail operations are closed from Saturday, December 14, 2024 - Saturday, January 11, 2025. The College is officially closed from Monday, December 23 - Sunday, January 5, 2025.
